Things I learned on my trip to La Serena

I learned.... ...
What a sun halo is when we saw one on our way to La Serena. What is it you ask? It is an optical illusion that happens when light is reflected off of ice crystals in the sky.

...That Chilean advertising rocks.

...That the Twilight Saga can keep you entertained for hours and hours in the car.

...Dams are created by first diverting the river. Once a dam is built, it is VERY windy on top and makes it difficult to get a good picture.

...My parents are still cute together

...They grow lots of grapes in Valle de Elqui

...Chileans start celebrating their independence day a week before the actual 18 de septiembre. Celebrations are everywhere, including a grocery store parking lot where you can see a mini rodeo. Also, little kids that dress in the typical Chilean clothes are too cute to resist taking a picture with.

...The beach in Chile in winter is FREEZING.

...Sea lions are called Lobos Marinos in Spanish, or Sea Wolves. But they actually sound more like dying sheep that are being tortured. Turn up your volume and push pause on my music to see if you can hear them. Another fun fact: Apparently penguins and sea lions can peacefully coexist. There were penguins on top of this rock.

WAY TO GO! that was an awesome way to show the highlights of our trip! now all you have to do is put in the funny quotes :)

and the seals are awesome. this video doesnt show that they have a variety of sounds and can also sound like elephants, crying babies, and/or drowning people getting tortured. weirdos.

love ya!

ok, first, nice "dam" picture (that was for you dad). second, love the little chileans in their traditional dress. wish i could see them and take pics too. third, your info about the sea lions was cracking me up, and the video was kinda creepy, you're right.

Your blog always make me laugh! I love to read what you right. Did you just barely start Twilight or are you reading them over. I just started reading them over before I read the last one that just came out. I am almost finished with New Moon, and I can't wait to read Breaking Dawn.
